Royal Music World ® in Shanghai is the first music school to administrate the internationally-recognized ABRSM music exam to immigrants and foreign passport holders in Shanghai, as well as the first school to adopt the ABRSM syllabus to train students in Mainland China. Shanghai Royal Music World (RMW) had its grand opening in August 2000 in Hong Qiao Developing Area in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. The Principal, Ms. Linda Xia Bin, who received her Master's degree in Piano Performance and Music Education in New York, has been in charge of the ABRSM music exam in the region of New York City for decades. Linda has 35-year experience in teaching music under the ABRSM syllabus. The ABRSM music exam is an authoritative and internationally recognized system of music exams.
Under Linda's coordination, the ABRSM music exam has been successfully held each year from 2000 to 2008 in Shanghai for immigrants and foreign passport holders. The number of the candidates increased 40% each year and the results of our students were excellent and encouraging. Then, since 2009, the government has opened the ABRSM exams to the public in Shanghai. In more than 20 years, RMW held various concerts each year and cultivated thousands of students with a well-round musical accomplishment. Each year we have students go for music colleges around the world. Until now, Royal Music World in Shanghai has already been the most experienced ABRSM music training school in China. The courses are specially designed by RMW. Teachers are specially trained, for ABRSM intensive preparation classes. Since 1999, the school has helped a large number of students passing the exam in many cases, receiving high scores on the ABRSM practical examinations.
The theory courses are specially designed for the ABRSM Music Theory Exam. The school is experienced in training students to pass this exam. Every year a large number of students from our school receive high scores in this examination. Each season RMW sets up small-size class within 4 students or 1 on 1 tutoring.
Aural training classes help students, whether they attend the school regularly or students who do not, or who need help with the aural section of the ABRSM Practical Exam, which appears in all grades of the examination, one through eight.
This course is designed for ABRSM diploma candidates. Every year before the examination, we invite experienced professors graduated from the UK, USA to teach in master classes to further diploma candidates’ training for the exam, including program performing, thesis composing, viva voce and quick study. Students may choose any one of the courses.
This class help students who are not familiar with ABRSM practical exam to prepare the exam by experienced teachers who know syllabus very well.
This class is designed for students who are interested in furthering their study in music theory, whether they are pursuing a degree in music composition or majoring in anything music-related. We provide group and one to one classes taught by highly qualified and experienced teachers from NYU, or Columbia University’s Conservatory of Music, Eastman School of Music, Manhattan School of Music.
This course is specially designed for students who wish to pursue their Diploma degree in the ABRSM exams. We provide courses on writing programme notes, preparing for the viva voce section, and preparing for the quick study. All courses can be taken separately, depending on each student’s needs.
In order to cultivate confidence and to let candidates learn the process and become comfortable with the environment of the ABRSM music exam, the principal of Royal Music World, Ms.Linda Xia, and her team of teachers will conduct the Mock Exam. The Mock Exam will be held one month prior to the actual exam. Candidates, especially ones who will be taking the music exam for the first time, will benefit greatly from the mock exam.
Distinguished Vocal Class of Royal Music World in Shanghai
The once-a-year Summer Vocal Class taught by the vocal music master, Dr.David Liao, is opening now at Royal Music World in Shanghai. Since the year of 2014, this characteristic vocal class has been successfully held for 6 consecutive years and has became one of the most popular classess of our summer school.
The Summer Vocal Class by Dr.David Liao usually lasts for two months, from July to August and the lecture is given by David and other senior musicians in person. The course content includes: Domestic or ABRSM Vocal Exams Intensive Training, ABRSM Musical Theatre Exam Intensive Training, Domestic and Foreign Vocal Contests and Stage Performing Training, Domestic and Foreign Music Institute Admission Tests Training. In the training process, students take required courses each week, including 2 vocal individual classes and 1 practical singing group class. Additionally, students may take elective courses, including accompanying class, sight-singing class, stage performing class, and music theory class. Students are free to choose their time for those courses.
At the end of June or the start of July, Royal Music World in Shanghai conducts a Vocal Class Concert Conference for students, parents, and any singing lovers. Seats are open for reservation to the public.
